Doesn't Everyone Name The Tree?

Huh? You DON'T?

I (well, PeepOne) put up the 38th tree of my adult life this year.

There have been all kinds of trees. Very small to very large. Real to artificial. Serious to whimsical.

But, because I'm me, I decided a few years ago to do some "fun" trees. I know. Bad Mimi for not using Jesus ornaments.

I started by collecting pig ornaments. Since I adore pigs it seems like the logical thing to collect. Not farm pigs, but beautiful pig ornaments. You would be AMAZED how many different ones are out there. It certainly makes my tree unique.

This year, the piggies are in storage. I am still collecting (OCD), but I decided to go a different route.

This is what I did last year...

Pitiful I know. The holiday season was rough last year. This was just the best I could do.

Peeps, I would like to introduce you to "The Red Saloon Girl". I am positive she has already come to Jesus and is now a Christian. However, she still likes feathers and bling. Here she is:

Isn't she beautiful? She will only be with me for one year. Next year her sister Lola the "Showgirl" might appear, but Red will appear only one time. (same ornaments, different arrangement).

All my ornaments are plastic since Harry is facinated by the lights and feathers.

I found this in the kitchen floor.

The things that go on while I sleep....

Here is a close-up of the fancy bottom of her dress...

And here is a shot of her hat...

I realize that I am photographically challenged. Red is much more beautiful that the camera shows...

I have finished my shopping! Yay!!

We do the three gift thing. Since Jesus got three gifts, why should we get more?

Each person gets 1)something they need; 2)something they want; 3)a surprise

Stockings are extra and don't count. It really makes shopping for my family fun to try to come up with different ways to give underwear...I'm just sayin'.

Another Christmas tradition I do...whatever gift I spend the most coin on, I give that exact amount in a birthday Christmas offering to Jesus.

Do you have special traditions in your family? Like the pink, fluffy salad your grandma forces you to eat every year? Everybody gets socks? Underwear? Do you read the Christmas Story on Christmas Eve? Attend a Christmas Eve service? Come on, Peeps!!! Spill it!! Tell us your traditions.

When my hubby & I got married, we had a dinky little 4-foot artificial tree & no ornaments, so I decided that we'd get each other an ornament every year. I think this year we'll begin getting Wendy one, too.

I like the three-gift idea, especially the breakdown of something you need, something you want, and a surprise. Sounds fun!

Santa Claus brings the kids 3 gifts and the hubs and I wrap them a couple under the tree, which are usually things for the family to do together. On Christmas Eve day we make cookies and go look at lights that night. We read Luke 2 first thing Christmas morning before opening gifts.

I'm glad you are back, I've missed you!
Your tree is beautiful, she in one sassy girl! That PeepOne needs a decorating blog! So I can copy everything :)

We go to the Children's Service at church every Christmas Eve, it is loud and very crowded with lots of crying, but the children's choir is so sweet and all the kids in awe of the story of Baby Jesus is worth it. And my husband watches It's A Wonderful Life every single year while we are 'Santa-ing' up the tree.

The tree is gorgeous. I love it.

We have tons of traditions but I think this one goes back the farthest in my family. The German side anyway.

We have oyster soup on Christmas eve. I can’t remember a Christmas with out it. Ever.

Blessings

We have an outside nativity scene. Whenever someone does something kind they get to put straw in the manger---hopefully we will be so kind all month that by Dec. 25th Jesus will have a very soft bed to lay on.

Red is gorgeous! (Just like her creators:)) Kind of makes what I'm about to post pretty pitiful.

For presents we do Gold (the most desired gift), Frankincense, and yes I Googled the spelling (something fragrant: cologne, bubble bath, candles, etc.) and Myrrh, that one I spelled all by myself (something from the Christian bookstore: a new Bible, a CD, a Christian book, etc.)

I have never named any of our trees but I think that may be my newest tradition. I love your tree.
We go to a Christmas eve service and have a late dinner with my parents and sister. No opening presents before Christmas morning. The boys get their stockings when they get up and then have to wait until after breakfast to see what Santa brought.
We have cake and cookies with breakfast since it is Jesus' birthday party.

Love the tree! Our family tradition is after candle light service we go look at Christmas lights. Then we go home put out the cookies, milk, and carrots (Rudolph) and then each person gets to open one present. Then off to bed.

I like your tree. And my cat would devour it.

Our traditions include:
1)New jammies to be opened on Christmas Eve
2)Cookies for Santa
3)...

I am drawing a blank. I am sure there are more, but we are in a shifting mode the last couple of years.

Last year our tree was not as large as we would have liked so we put the tree stand on a low wooden box. Everyone thought we were going "green" and had bought a tree with the root bundle still attached because our tree skirt made it look that way. It was small but beautiful, just like your tree.
Our tradition that we have established is to buy an ornament for each child each year that represents something they liked or did that year. They get to put that ornament on the tree Christmas morning.

Ahh...Beachy Mimi...I can always count on you to make me laugh and smile! Love the lady! That's what you can do (for yourself) when you don't have an old man grumping that its too fru-fru.

I love your tree! Dazzling. You are very creative! I can tell you were a teacher.

The idea of giving Jesus a Birthday gift with the same amount of money as they most expensive gift is really brilliant. I love it.

Hope your Christmas was merry!
