Fun Friday Giveaway

PhotobucketOh Peeps, it is Friday. Woo Hoo!

***UPDATED***

Time is up!! Winner announced in a little bit.

In honor of the end-of-the-week and the fact that Beachy Mimi is feeling good and happy, we have a little giveaway at the Beachy house.

I just need to let you know that I do not like Wal-Mart. The reasons are various and of no importance here. Target is my love. LOVE.

However, Target is not open yet here in Chaos. Not until October. In the meantime, I have no access to a Target gift card. There is a WM just down the street. As BAD as I dislike going in there, I love you, my Peeps.

So, just for YOU, PEEPS, I will enter the dungeon and purchase a $100.00 giftcard to give one of you randomly.

All you have to do (hey, I need some entertainment) is tell me a Pet Peeve. I know everyone has them. Just tell me and leave me a way to get in contact with you.

Giveaway ends at 4 pm EDST. On Sunday.

I hate to say I have several but I do.....People checking out on their cell phones is my biggie right now. They totally ignore the person that is right in front of them and talk on the phone.... RUDE!!I am getting heated just typing about it :(
Girl, thanks for your awesome give-a-ways:) I feel better now!

Bad cell phone manners and rude people. Plus I live in Michigan and the drivers 50% of the time don't put on their turn signals or do just before turning. Enough :)

Jeni said...

One of my pet peeves is slow drivers. I try not to be a speeder, but in most situations (especially dry, sunny days) I want to go the speed limit. If you're in front of my in your Caddy driving 10 under the speed limit, let me pass!!

My pet peeve occurs when I am speaking to people and before I have told them what I want to say, they say "Oh, I KNOW!" and talk over me -- 99% of the time they are totally wrong about what they THOUGHT I was going to say/tell them, but that never stops them.

What better reason to come out of lurkdom than a WM giftcard (except a Target one, of course!). My biggest pet peeve is and always has been rude or disinterested sales people, cashiers, etc. You know, the ones who act like they'd rather be anywhere else than there, doing anything else than that...or the ones who don't get off their PERSONAL phone call to help me! ARRRGHH! I worked in retail for many years and it irks me beyond belief. I want to scream at them that if they hate their job so much, they need to find a new one!

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah...I'm at dwsmith71*at*gmail*dot*com

I guess it's a good thing absent-mindedness isn't my pet peeve!

Poor manners at the dinner table-slurping, burping and talking with food in your mouth. It makes me sick. I have 3 sons and if they can act appropriately at the dinner table so can anyone else.

When someone starts to day something but then pauses and starts and stops and starts and stops and you could be doing a million other things than listening to a 5 times too long explanation of whatever they wanted to share.

CoftheU said...

Oh Mimi. I have a list. (Some of them are a little OCD, I know.)

When I have to sign something for someone and they say they need my "John Henry". Its John HANCOCK.

When there are two or more light switches to one light and the switch is left up instead of down when its off. I go through the house at night flipping them all down.

People who chew with their mouths open.

When toilet paper is under instead of over.

When the clothes in the closet don't all face the same way.

When people scrape their teeth on their eating utensils.

Dirty dishes sitting in the sink.

When people block the whole aisle with their cart and themselves at the store.

OK. That's enough. I'll stop here.

RR Mama said...

Oh Mimi, you shouldn't have opened that door. I have several but will limit my self to just one. Here you go. When people drive slow in the left lane on the highway. Actually they are driving below the speed limit. I am like move over and let some one pass you.
Have a great day and thanks for going into the dungeon for us!

3girlsmom said...

Pet Peeve - oh the list could go on and on and ON. But I really go crazy over misbehaving children (I mean REALLY obnoxious, not the occasional fussiness) in a public place and mom/dad does nothing about it, being late without a bona fide reason, and people who always point out the negative in a situation.
Makes me crazy. What would cure that? a $100 gift card, of course!!!!
BTW, Snoop Dog is a rapper.

ps: You may enjoy this little post of mine about Wal-mart. http://www.franticallysimple.com/2008/06/11/a-simple-little-project/

BTW shame on me - self promoting in comments is another of my peeves.

You do know that I posted on my pet peeve yesterday?
But... I'll give you another peeve (my pet is saved for the blog :), when PUBLIC SPEAKERS mispronounce words! Like: irregardless instead of regardless; exscape instead of escape; axe instead of ask; drawl instead of draw...I'll stop there, my heart rate is rising!
Thank you for the give-away, and the trip into enemy camp to get it ;)

Just one-are you srue???
Okay, most of mine revolve a 12 year old adolescent that says he is related to me-
When he leaves food wrappers and drink cans up in his room- He knows good and well he is not supposed to eat upstairs cause like ants follow food- and It gets on my last nerve when I find food particles on the floor and under the bed!

OH, One Pet Peeve? Surely, you jest?

I have made entries in the past on this very topic.

BUT-

The one that popped in my head straightaway was when I open a cabinet, the fridge, a drawer--whatever, and things are blatently shoved in; not put back in it's assigned location.

We start school in two weeks. That card would come SOO in handy.

Also, I will out myself now and comment on a regular basis. ;)

Great giveaway! One of my pet peeves is no name post it notes. They don't stick and it drives me crazy!!

Stefani said...

If I had to choose just one pet peeve it would have to be finding an empty cereal, granola bar, etc. box in the pantry. I (almost) have my husband trained to remove them so that I know when I need to restock, but I absolutely cannot stand grabbing the box only to find nothing in it!

Thanks for the awesome give away! I agree on the Target/WM thing too. Unfortunately, WM is only 5 min away and Target is 25!

Alicia said...

Oh, I have several. To keep up with the "theme" of the WM giveaway, I will give you a few of my pet peeves about shopping at WM:

the rude people who act like they own the store--the ones who refuse to move out of your way even though you have "screamed" "excuse me!" a thousand times....and the people who clearly see you coming down the aisle but then turn their carts at the last minute to block your path.

as an added bonus...I can't stand it when kids rollerblade or skateboard in the store. Seriously, people! The store is not a park. And where are their parents?!

Ok, that's enough for now. Even though my list is lengthy.

Oh Beachy Mimi....My pet peeve is a fold over sandwich. I can't eat one or see one or let my children and grandchildren eat one in my presence..The reason is the bread is so thick, it makes me gag..I hate even thinking about them..Happy Day...Robin

Bad manners and a lack of respect for other people are at the top of my list of pet peeves. It takes so little effort to treat other people well and sure makes my day go better.

Beth said...

Like most everyone else, I have plenty of pet peeves... but the one that bothered me significantly yesterday is a published book with typos in it. There were 3 errors in one chapter in the book I finished yesterday. Where's the editor? The proofreader? Books aren't cheap these days... so I at least want one that's grammatically well-written.

Lisa said...

At the top of my list, possibly because I face it on a daily basis, is when I tell someone (hub)that there is something on their lip, or just next to their lip and rather than brush it away, they give it a lick. Cute when you're three, but any older than that, not quite so much.

I have pet peeves...but the biggest one are parents that do not look after their own children at playgrounds, and then get mad when someone tells them to knock off the bad behavior. Drives me nuts!

I also hate the people that talk on their cell phones loudly. Not everyone needs to hear you!!

Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!!

One of my biggest pet peeves is when you are driving down the road and the lane beside you is about to end. The person in that lane then keeps driving like it isn't and has to cut you off or go onto the grass to get out of the lane that has ended. Okay, okay...I have a tiny bit of road rage. =) My email address is dystinee24@gmail.com.

My biggest pet peeve is people interrupting you when you are talking. Everyone I hang out with seems to talk over the top of each other. Ugh. I usually just stop talking and wait for everyone to hush! Thanks for a great giveaway!

Sentence fillers are my pet peeve... you know nonsense words that people use to fill a sentence... like "yada, yada, yada". I mean, if you can't use real words, don't speak.

Wow! I feel like a million times lighter now! :-)

Happy weekend!

Wal-Mart is my pet peeve! :-) No likey.

And since we recently moved away from Wal-Mart territory back into God's country where there is a Target on every corner, I'm happy to say you don't have to enter me in this contest, Mimi. If I don't have to, I will never enter a Wal-Mart again.

I don't want to be a comment hog, but I have to go with one more...I hate to see people talking on cell phones while they're being helped by cashiers in the grocery store check-out, fast food drive-thru, etc. It feels so disrespectful to me.

And, I forgot to give my email: kcaimee at gmail dot com

Found you from The Roost. Besides all the driving and cell phone pet peeves.... It really bugs me when a restaurant waiter/watress asks me if I need change from the money I have put with my ticket. And usually, they don't even look at the amount of $ I've put down. What if it's a $100 bill for a $20 ticket??!!

If I don't need change I will tell them, saving them another trip to the table. Otherwise, it's like taking a tip for granted.

And just for the record, I am a gracious tipper, especially when the service is excellent!

What an awesome giveaway! I love Target too but get stuck going to Wal-Mart a lot. Well, I have TONS, I repeat TONS of pet peeves. The top five are, people who don't use turn signals, people who drive too slow, people yapping on cell phones when they're driving and acting all dumb then give you a little sign like it's your fault that they can't drive, whining, and people who just won't say what's what and instead misrepresent things (at work). Thanks so much for letting me vent!

You are very generous! My biggest pet peeve would have to be smacking! It literally grates on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard. My other major pet peeve is slow drivers in the fast lane. Oh, I have so many, many pet peeves.

One biggie is when a store advertises on their outside sign and puts up a price that is less than a dollar and uses a cent sign AND a decimal. Uh....that would make the price, oh, say ninety-nine TENTHS of a dollar rather than just plain old ninety-nine cents.

I could go on, but my sweet hubby just said "Dinner is ready!" Gotta love carry-out! LOL

When the car you're behind slows down for green lights.

I know you said "a" pet peeve, but who can stop at just one?

Anonymous said...

Just one Peeve? Is it 100 for each one if my number is picked?:)

~ Leaving Hair in the hairbrush is sick
~ Being elbowed when someone (usually my mom) wants to tell me something and they are sitting right next to me.
~ When someone says "Mine is EXACTLY like it but a tiny bit different".
~ When people don't pronounce things even close to correctly like when the President or a newscaster or anyone else who should know better says Nuk-you-ler instead of Nu-Clear.Or when someone says jewluhree instead of jewel-ree
....

None of them cause me huge amounts of unrest, but they do bother me.

Oh my my my Mimi...the pain you unknowingly caused! I called my husband, mom and two friends to ask their help in narrowing it down to one! That is sad, sad, SAD. They all agreed though. Apparently I am pushed to extreme peevedom with mouth noises of any kind. slurping, smacking, raspberries, etc.
This was an outstanding give-away! Thank you for making us think.
I am now going to go make a list of the things I love and appreciate though because apparently I don't tolerate quiete a few things well.
I am hoping, like you, a little retail therapy will help tonight with Lover Boy! Have a fabulous weekend.

I would have to say my biggest pet peeve is when the kitchen garbage is full and no one in the house seems to know how to empty it but me. They just keep piling it on top until it is ready to fall out. And I have tried to leave it to see when they would actually empty it, and the only one to do so was my husband. I would also have to agree with you, Target is wonderful!

100.00 gift card? Whoa!! Pet peeve. Pet peeve. hmmm. I'm going to definitely have to say that mine would be the following in no particular order:

People who litter. Hugely wrong. Hugely "I'm above society and the person who has to pick this up for me"

Customer Service people who don't know how to work with a customer and they certainly don't know what SERVICE means!

Lastly - it would be hubby never closing his sock and underwear drawer - every single morning. Just pushing it in is apparently way, way too difficult!

My pet peeve (like someone else mentioned) is parents who don't watch their children. I totally understand that children will be children (I have a 2 year old!!) but when a parent doesn't watch them, like say at church or a birthday party and then I feel the need to watch them.... because I mean HELLO, I don't want them to get hurt, run away, beat my kid up, beat someone elses kid up.. well, that gets on my nerves! Let's all take responsibility for our own!
Wow, that felt good to get that out! :)

One pet peeve is folks that are late - all the time. There are people that are consistently late for things - you just know ahead of time they will be late...why can't they see it too and say "hey I'm gonna leave 10 min early"?

Also parents that let their kids run the household...

And people walking their dogs at a park where the dog is supposed to be leashed and they are not and the dogs come running towards me and my young children and pretty much the owner always says "they are friendly, they won't hurt you."

Thanks for the great give-away!

It really gets on my nerves when I'm in a restaurant and the manager comes to my table to ask how the service is. There seems to be a new trend in this regard, and while I know they mean well, I feel as if they're implying that the servers who work for them can't be trusted or something.

The other thing that instantly popped into my head when I read your post is rude cell phone manners! Ever since the invention of this wonderful technology, it seems people have forgotten how to treat one another. I had to smile when I walked into our local Subway and the sign on the counter said, "please end all cell phone conversations prior to placing your order." Finally SOMEONE is taking a stance and laying down a few rules for cell phone usage!

Should it be when you purchase something in a drive through and the "clerk/worker" doesn't say 1 word to you... they take your money, they give you your change, they hand you your food and then your off. Not even one single "thank you."

Or should it be when you're looking at something in the grocery store and someone walks right in front of you and starts looking -- completely blocking your view!!!! UGH!

No. I think I'll say a pretty obvious and common one: When my big boy (hubby) and my little boy (son) can't seem to find the hamper. Ever. However, I must say that charging them a dollar every time I have to do it has come in REALLY handy and I've saved up some good amount of dinero!!!! :o)

Smiles!

How about sitting on a wet toilet seat? Man do I hate that! Although I feel a little better about it since I learned that urine is sterile. Thank Goodness!

Since I'm a little OCD only one is hard, but I'll go with the first one that came to mind. My husband wearing his military boots in the house...I don't like shoes in the house anyway, the kids and I take them off at the door, and I just think about those boots being in a men's bathroom. Ugh!

What a great giveaway! Target is my first love, but Wal-Mart gets my business on toiletries and necessities for low prices. Would come in handy for my family of six!
