BMBM #2 The GIRLS

PhotobucketWelcome to another powerful post about Beachy Mimi's Beauty Musings (BMBM) where we explore the inconsequential stuff of beauty management.

Today I just have to blog about the girls. You know, THE GIRLS. We all have them. Different size, shapes, upper, lower, l-o-n-g-e-r,.......you know. Most of us have a set. We hope they are close to the same size, but not always.

The ideal placement for the girls in somewhere between your shoulders and belly button.
Perky is usually considered more desirable than sagging, and both are more desirable than a 34 Long......as in pointing straight down. (if you have deep valley cleavage I hate you)

Surgery can correct the long....it is worth it. Sorry Queen B, I'm just sayin......When you take off your shirt and the beams are pointing straight south, well....SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE.

However, the post is not about that. I have a question about a very common issue for women.
The size doesn't matter, but we all have beams.

If you are fortunate, your beams stay contained at all times. Others, have a difficult time disguising the girls when they are on HIGH BEAM. Walk in to the freezing cold movie, a mall or a restaurant and schwing!!! HIGH BEAM GIRLS.

What's a Peep to do? I have tried bandaids: just look like a bandaid over a high beam.
I tried pushing in the beams with a round bandaid and I looked like I had two bullseye target practice berms.

Next was round cotton.....rounds and the square cotton....squares. It looked like I had stuck cotton pads in my bra. Very noticiable. Still had high beams.

Tape didn't work. It is either high beams or a jacket. Now I don't know about your location, but in the sweat pit South, a jacket in summer is just not practical. Or comfortable.

Husbands are NO help. They kinda like high beams. It's like a badge of honor for them to strut in front of their guypunks, "See what I caused?"

OH PULEEZE!!!

I've carried a very high purse, a book or magazine and even the arms across the chest. None of those look very natural.

The ABSOLUTE worst is when it happens at church. At least you have your Bible....unless you are chasing 40 children and you need both hands.

TURN UP THE AIR.

Old ladies (whose girls are down in South Central Grandma (or lower) screw up their lips and give you a look that screams, "Hussy".

Well, I can't help it. It's a problem. I have found few bras that adequately disguise the beam
on high.

So, Peeps, how do you deal with this Very Important Issue? Help............

Well, even though I don't need a bra with padding. That's what I have found actually works. I have a Hanes bra that hides them really well.

Ditto to the bra with padding. That's all I ever wear, for this exact reason. Not like push-up padding, but a thin padded lining - it disguises a lot of beamage. :-)

I wear nursing pads. Quilted nursing pads.

What? Isn't everyone in the world nursing a baby right now?

MOTHER!!! Oh my word....

Oh dear, Mimi! I hope QB doesn't shut this place down after cleavage and beamage discussion! ;-)

I am speaking from the first letter of the bra alphabet, ahem, so I may be technically inept. However, I find the padded bra does an excellent job of camouflaging the "beam" problem.

Umm, I can't believe I'm joining in on this conversation but let me jump right in and say I swear by these:

Silicone Petals, girls. Cover 'em up with the silicone. I always wear them with my white tshirts. Just google silicone petals and you will find a few different kinds and places to order them from.

You're right about the husband's are no help part...my always says, "You look cold, here let me warm you up!"

I'm not a big fan of the padded bra, so I'm interested in what you come up with.

Thank you for bringing up a subject that I'd only talk to my sister about! Padded bras help but not entirely. I'm thinking of making a t-shirt that says "Yes, I nursed my children. How did you know?". Just kidding.

I just saw a new bra advertised that has little petals in the cups for this problem. I don't remember the brand but it was a common one, maybe playtex? I thought I would look for it next time. I can't stand for this to happen to me either. I do wear a lightly padded bra to try to cover it. ~Amanda

The gym is another tricky spot where it's important to avoid high beams. Especially when you run into people from church there (double whammy.)

Padded bra all the way (but not at the gym.)

I will be laughing about this post all day.

This was.... ah... entertaining?

What was even more funny was the thought of what Queen would be thinking as she read.....

And her response was priceless.

Two words, Mimi: padded bras. I find that this helps a great deal with the high beams. Also, these come in handy for us ladies who have tiny little midget girls whose names only start with the letter A, and makes them look like big girls. Kind of like putting on a nice pair of heels.

Ahhhh...I bought the perfect bra for the Girls AND the Beams at a specialty bra shop (at a cost of $50). Ever since, NO problemo with the beams. It's great. One of the best purchases I have ever made. I think half of the ladies at my church go to this shop for their bras. LOL I can be freezing my patootie off and no one would never know.

Sorry, I don't know the name of the bra though!! And I can't reveal the name of the shop b/c I don't disclose my location on blogs. (It's no where near you.) But I highly recommend a specialty shop.

The last time I was bra shopping I told the saleslady I didn't want a particular bra because it wasn't padded and would ... you know. They have pads. WHO KNEW? They are very soft, thin on the edges, a little thicker in the middle. I'd say they cover 1/2 to 2/3 of a girl. And they work beautifully - put on your bra, throw them inside, ready to go.

Hilarious post! I've always called myself a "pointer."

Of course, the last few years the direction of the pointing has been changing.

I have to agree -- a bra with padding. I wear them even though I am ... umm ... somewhat "blessed."

HEHEEHEE! You crack me up. Well, I am rather, um, ENDOWED. And I don't need no padding, if you get my drift.

But I do relate to your problem.

I found a bra at good ol' Vicky's Secret that is not really padded but has a "molded" cup. That helps a lot. I'm too lazy to look it up. Lots of brands make molded cups, though. Good luck!

This is a hilarious discussion- I bought some of those petal thingys- but haven't used them yet-So I'm no help here!

Like Kelly said, nursing pads. They make cotton ones or the disposable ones and they work wonders. I still use them and I haven't nursed in over a year.
