Saving the Day...... A Giveaway!!!

PhotobucketDo you have any idea how much mail accumulates when you are gone for a month? Amazing. No wonder the postal people are always in a bad mood.

I have some wonderful Interpeep buddies. I'm going to tell you about PeepOne.

You are very fortunate if you have a friend to pal around with. Friends are truly a gift from the Lord, and not everyone has one. I have been through periods in my life when I had acquaintances, but not a running-buddy.

Now I am a FIRM believer that women need women. I know that husbands are usually our best friends and that is right and good. But, sometimes Peeps, you just need girl time.

I don't know how many years I have known PeepOne. Forever, it seems. Right from the first we hit it off and just had the greatest times doing stuff. She has always been my "travel buddy" and we have taken vacations, shopping trips, business trips and any- excuse- we- could- find
trips. Yes, she has even been with me on my some of my wild OOT haircut escapades.

Peep's husband is a super guy. He doesn't like to travel, but he sees the need in her to get out and do stuff so he doesn't mind when we take off for a few hours, a weekend or a week. Actually, about 10 days is his limit. But that's okay.

A true friend tells you the truth......regardless. Sometimes, ouch! But we need that. Sometimes we need someone to give us a kick or tell us to get our "big girl" britches on.
A true friend loves you despite your quirks and quackiness. A true friend is by your side when you need them.

I don't think PeepOne has been to my house in the past year that she hasn't brought me a Sonic coke and a breakfast biscuit (plain) from McDonalds. Every time.

If it is past breakfast time, she shows up with a Sonic coke to SAVE THE DAY.

Once again, PeepOne has come to my rescue. She's going with me to pack my stuff. And help.
And make me suck it up and get on with it. I need that.

And, I'm sure she will make more than one trip to Sonic to get us cokes and again, SAVE THE DAY!

Do you have a person in your life that saves your day? Someone that shows up when you need them and props you up when you can't stand by yourself?

My GIVEAWAY is a $100 gift card to Sonic.....what else? Maybe I can save YOUR day.

Just leave a comment and tell me about your Peep. I'll close the comments at 6pm CDT on Wednesday.

UPDATE NOT A DAUGHTER OR A SISTER A NON FAMILY MEMBER

Gotta be my bestest girlfriend from high school. Even though we live 8 hours away, no matter how long we go without talking on the phone, we always pick up right where we left off. I can call her out of the blue and she'll say, "How did you know I needed to talk to you today?" The same is true for me. Hands down, Anne is a true friend.

I have 4 grown children, and one still at home, three of which are daughters, and I would have to say that they are my best friends in the whole world, who are always there for me through the good times and the bad. They are the true meaning of "best friend". God has truely blessed me.

Mine has been my best friend since the 6th grade. We have been through great times and horrible times through the years. It doesn't matter if it is a hair disaster or a death of a loved one, I know she is always there for me. And I am there for her. I couldn't live without her.

My best friend from my hometown. We have been friends for over 20 years and I could count on her to do anything for me. She just had her first baby last year and we have been able to connect so much more since then.

We actually only see each other about once a year. :( I miss her greatly.

Okay - $100 to Sonic! That is like two years of Cherry Limeades!

My best friend from college is always there for me in the emotional and spiritual sense. Not physically, because she's doing God's work in China, so I only see her once a year. But we chat about once a week, and it feeds my soul. She knows everything about me, and likes me anyway, and she's fabulous.

Man... we can't say our sister or our mom? Ok... then the next closest would be my long-time friend from elementary, junior high, and high school. Her name is Meg. Doesn't the name Meg just sound like a good person?! Anyway... busy or not busy - she's always there. Always makes time. Always.

Smiles,
Jen

P.S. I'm so very glad Peep One is in your life!

I feel very blessed to have several different "best friends." I have my Mom and sisters, who are always there to give me support and laughter. I have my best friends from high school who are always there for the much needed "girls night out." I have the best friends that I have made since I moved to my current hometown 8 1/2 years ago that are always there to listen to me vent, discuss the latest fashions and celebrity scandles, as well as to provide some great company to hang out with on the weekends. And then there is absolutly my best friend in the world who knows me better than I even know myself, who has shared more laughter and tears with me than anyone, and who I think must be my long lost twin since we are so alike....but she is technically a family member since we are like 5th cousins or something. But I think the blood relationship just makes our bond that much stronger.

Nicky is my current peep. We've moved across the country and don't know many people. Nicky is from back in ID where we went to school. We chat and blog together and basically keep each other sane. And there are times when we're beyond crazy and we are able to save each other just a bit. She's a keeper.

My PeepOne is my best friend, Allison. She and I have been best friends for 20 years, since we were ten years old. We have a very special relationship. We are more like sisters than friends. We tell each other the brutal truth. The stuff that everyone else is afraid to tell you. The truth that hurts. And we don't get angry at each other for it. I tell her when she's being a spoiled little brat and she tells me when I'm being a--well I don't think I can post that here. But I'm sure you get the picture. Growing up, my dad wanted to claim her on his tax return because she was always at our house. And vice versa. Her dad even grounded me one time! :) We have grown up together. We have been there for each other through all the hardships and for every milestone through our lives. We seem to have some sort of best friend ESP because we always know just when the other needs us. I know I can't live without her. I love my Allie!

Are we lucky are what?

I have one friend who has been with me since elementary school. We've been friends for more than 20 years, through 10 moves, three marriages, one divorce, five children and everything in-between. She's like the other half of me, we know each other so well.

I have many good friends from other locales, but no one like Lisa.

I've known my best friend for 40 years. We first met in kindergarten and even though she now lives on the other side of the country (her CA, me NJ) she is ALWAYS there for me. I can call her and just let it all out. The best thing is that she isn't afraid to tell me the truth. Doesn't matter if it's about my clothing choices, marriage or attitude. I rely on her honesty. In fact, I think I'll call her now. Thanks.

You are soo right! I have been lucky to have several. My Tri Delta sisters are ones for a lifetime. We can usually just pick up were we left off, no matter how long it's been. My close friends now are lifesavers! They are the ones that know right when I need someone to come grab my kids and give me alittle alone time!! Love You Shannon, Lucinda, Dru, and Teresa - would be lost forever without you! :)
Thanks Beachy Mimi for helping me remember some wonderful people! I wish I could help you pack :)!

Here's my email addy for when I win this: prlin@suddenlink.net. My PeepOne and I met in the 8th grade - more than 40 years ago. We've been through divorces, deaths, drunken stupors, bad hairdos, extra weight, you name it. She moved to the city but when she moved back, we picked up right where we left off. She has held me up through so many life situations just as I have held her together in her rough times. You know it's true friendship when you call in the middle of the night and say "I need you" and she doesn't ask why, she is there in 5 minutes. Wow, this made me cry! God is good.

I love my girlfriends. I have am blessed to have great friends. We all have kids the same age and so we are always hanging out together. We always seem to have something going on.
Oh by the way, it is hot! And by this time next month I am sure the regular temps will be around 99-102!

The Lord has blessed me with two women who are always there for me. I hope I'm always there for them in the same way. They both know how to handle me during one of my meltdowns. They know when to just listen and when I need their advice. Great friends!

My peep is Lower Alabama lady, http://www.reallifeinloweralabama.blogspot.com/, who I have been friends with birth! Still the bestest of friends even though we are miles away-I finally convinced her to start her own blog so that we could keep up better!
I luv SONIC!

My PeepOne is 300 miles away in body, but ever present in spirit. She has called me to check on us because she was praying for us and just knew there was something goin' on...of course, she was right!
We are truly bosom friends (thanks Anne of Green Gables for the title)! I tell her that she just "gets me"...my marriage, my parenting, my ministry, even my hairstyle (she was my hairdresser when we lived in the same area code)!!
God truly smiled on me the day we met!

I have one, a former coworker...although I don't live close to her now, nor do we email often..work just seems to drag us down esp. me because I am much older than she is....but I know if I need her that she is there...she will me the truth and this is so important: she accepts me, warts and all. How I wished we lived closer. If I could choose her for a sister, I would.
She is a blessing in my life.

You know what sucks? Moving.

You know what doesn't suck? Having bestest buddies littered across the country.

You know what sucks? Never getting to see those bestest buddies.

You know what DOESN'T suck? $100 worth of Diet Cherry Cokes from Sonic.

WOOT!

Can I still enter? I'm peepless. I have peeps. Great, fun peeps, who are always up for a weekend away or a game night at home. I'm just not sure I have that go to peep like PeepOne. I did, but it's a long story. I hope I do find a PeepOne someday again. I miss that.

I met my #1 peep when I was going through my divorce. She saved my bacon then, and keeps coming back for more grease. What a gal! She has helped me pack, clean, move, unpack, and more. When times have been financially tough for us these last 2 years she has even "done" Christmas for my 2 kids so that they wouldn't have to go without. She is a peep in a million, that is for sure!

Thanks for visiting my blog today. YOU are as funny as the Queen!
I have two girls that I consider my bestest girlfriends.
They just always seem to be there at the right time.
They always have a listening ear or
a shoulder to cry on.
Sometimes they can just share the silence with me.
Sometimes they bring Diet Cokes or pregnancy tests.
Same difference.
The world is a better place because of my friends.
I count myself very blessed in the friend department.

One of my closest friends died in December after a 13 year battle with cancer. She was so special and she LOVED ,Loved, Loved the ice from Sonic. I have been in the drive through many times during her last year just to get that crunchy ice..I miss her but she had a great walk with the Lord and I know she is rejoicing with him in heaven and having her good ice from Sonic with JESUS.. Don't take your peeps for granted people..Enjoy every day and celebrate those peeps with fun, love, laughter, trips, and you too can have happy memories of the special times we shared.

I have a few Peeps, but I'll tell you about my Peep, Holly. I'm a young married girl, serious, moved away a year ago, work for my church, and some might say OCD. PeepHolly is single (but might be settling down soon!), carefree, loves being near her family and keeps me on my toes! I have two dogs that are my children for now. One got very sick and threatened the life of my other one. When she heard I might lose my oldest baby, she said she was only a phone call away. Despite it being near finals time of her senior year of college, I had no doubt that she would rush down here to be with me.

That's how she is. I'm serious about many things, but she is VERY SERIOUS about friends!

Love her!!

Do you believe we don't have any Sonic's here? So I would not be able to use the fabulous gift card, but I would love to give a shout out to my best friend Jen. She helps me solve problems almost daily : ). I don't know what I would do without her. We have been friends since 7th grade. I hope we are friends forever.

My PeepOne is a girlfriend whom I love and appreciate more now than I did a month ago. We have been friends for years, but just a few short weeks ago I found myself standing out in the hallway of her hospital room while the paged a "Code Blue" because she had stopped breathing. Just that morning, we had been singing in the choir together and praising the Lord. I'm happy to report she is now ok and as sassy as ever. My lesson...girls...hug your peeps and tell how much you love them 'cause you never know!

The person I love to talk to that is always there was a friend that I met in college. I agree that boyfriends/husbands are great but there are just some things that you need a woman to understand.

As sad as this sounds, I don't really have a best friend in my immediate life. However, I do have a best friend that I have kept since my college days way back in the late 80's. After we graduated we both went our separate ways, but we continued the friendship. And still today when we get together it's like we were never apart, we just pick up where we left off. It's great to have a friend like that!

I have a couple of girlfriends that would fit into that category. I love being able to pick up the phone, blab for 5-10 minutes and then say thanx, I just needed to vent and I get a no problem in return. It always makes me feel better!
