Fussy Mimi

WARNING: READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Hello, Therapy Group. My name is Beachy Mimi and I am FUSSY.

I'm not sure what's up with that.

Perhaps it is post-birthday sugar depletion. Hormones. Lack of sleep. Too much sleep. Not enough cokes. Too many cokes...you see where I am going with this.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG.

I've mentioned before that as I have gotten older, I take myself much less seriously than in years past. That is, I don't stress over what I consider small stuff.

I quit wearing a watch. My house doesn't have to be perfect. Laundry might or might not pile up for a day or seven.

I try to focus on the Things That Matter...Bible study, prayer, relationships, Sonic.

I very seldom get Truly Irritated With Little Things.

Well, someone has looked at me wrong or something. For two days I've been a whiny, gump-head, allergy-nose-blowing, throbbing-headache-having, ugly-crying-jagger, bad-hair-having, hater-of-everything-in-my-closet, mani-pedi-lacking bundle of JOY...NOT.

Aren't you glad you stopped by?

Plus, the hair that got lasered is now growing in abundance out my chin. Now there's a pretty picture. Add OCD tweezing to the list.

Is there a solution? How do I get out of my Selfish Pity-Party?

COMFORT FOOD.

Yep, works for me!!

I need help, Peeps. What is your favorite comfort food? Or comfort meal?
I can't even decide which comfort food to abuse. Please, give me some ideas.

After I splurge, I'm sure I will be in a better mood.

Thanks, YOU ARE THE BEST!

Never fear -- Girl Scout cookies should arrive within the next three weeks. Hopefully the ideas provided in the comments below stave off any grumpiness until the Girl Scout cookies arrive.

Then... bliss.

Sigh.

Chocolate usually does the trick for me, but sometimes I just really need to carb it up and have cheesecake. The best is Banana Cream Cheesecake with Hot Fudge Sauce. I get mine from the Cheesecake Factory.
Ooooh ...now I need some!

I'm telling you, this is good stuff. And have a glass of whine with it. I mean wine. :) Hang in there. Momma said there'd be days like this.

I usually go w/ loaded cheese fries or ice cream.. depending on my mood :-P I have kinda been in a funk the last month or so too. I hope we figure out our issues!

Sorry you're discombobulated, Mimi. When I get like that my husband says I'm being "frumpy" - he means a combination of frustrated + grumpy.

My favorite comfort food is loaded mashed potatoes. Good buttery homemade mashed potatoes with lots of sour cream, cheese, and bacon mixed in, maybe some chives on top. Good for what ails you. :-)

Anything from Cracker Barrel... but their chicken 'n dumplings really do it for me.

Or, anything on their breakfast menue with a good hot cup of coffee and the face of one of my sweet friends across the table. That starts a day off great.

Come visit me... Cracker Barrel is just up the street... and I'll buy! I'm so serious.

Blessings!
Dawn

Oh, don't we all have our fussy days. My best friend from college and I would fulfill our comfort food desires with butter popcorn... but, wait, there's more. Pour in a bunch of m & m's. Sweet and salty all mingled together in happiness.

Hope your day improves.

I had a day like that last week. I sent everyone off to work and school and stayed on the sofa in my pj's most of the day. I think doing something like that is healthy for someone 'Fussy'and also I like to eat a whole large bag of Peanut M&M's yummmmm!!!

Anything you don't have to cook. I hate to cook when I'm in a funk. Drive to Sonic and get your favorites and veg infront of the TV and watch an old movie. I like to take a nap when I'm in a funk.

Hope you feel less fussy soon.

God Bless

Fussy Mimi?! I didn't think it was every possible.

I'm a dessert girl. I love me some dessert. I cannot refuse dessert. I like pie--any kind of pie (except coconut). And plain cake, no icing....except coconut.

Can you tell that I despise coconut? YUCK!

I get in these fixes myself & a big plate of doing something for someone else always helps me and a side of taking a prayer walk alone and recounting the blessings in my life. I know if sounds corny but it works everytime :)

Fried chicken and mashed potatoes...and if it would help you I'd be willing to cheat on my diet and eat some, too.

I agree - fried chicken and mashed potatoes - from your favorite restaurant - you shouldn't have to make it yourself. And maybe a brownie to finish it off...

When I think of comfort food I think mashed potatoes (with lumps) and meat loaf. Of course, chocolate in any form is always appropriate.

Watch a sad movie, eat dinner, eat dessert, cry some more and then go to bed. In the morning you should feel better (just don't get on the scale).

For me it's anything my grandmother used to make. She made the most amazing fried pies. They were about the size of your palm, crisp and brown on the outside, with a thick (almost pasty, but not) chocolate filling...warm, gooey goodness! No one knows how to make them now that she's gone :(

So, perhaps a lemon creme cake with lemon glaze drizzled on top!

I would go with a nice brownie sundae with lots and lots of chocolate and toppings. Delicious!

Dee from Tennessee

I agree about the Cracker Barrell...but since I have to drive 45 minutes to get to a CB, the local KFC's chicken pot pie also qualifies.

A 1/2 bag of Nestle Milk Chocolate Chips....it's what I had for dinner last night and it was delicious!

It's this time of year!!!! Every year the same old thing--down in the dumps for no good reason.
OREOS and Dove milk chocolates are the solution---my jeans do not think so, but it helps for a little while!

chocolate pound cake or almond pound cake

There's just something therapeutic to me about Mexican food when I am hormonal or sad/upset. Definitely with a real coke. Definitely with lots of cheese, sour cream, salsa, etc. Definitely with extra salt on the chips. Definitely followed by the ultimate comfort food - CHOCOlATE (any form!)
Seriously, I hope you feel better soon.

Ok, I am late for my arrival at BM's house and that is on my nerves. Ahem, anyway.

There is always chocolate, but I totally enjoy a peanut butter and marshmallow creme sandwich with a side of Pringles and ICE cold milk.

Yep. My comfort food. For MANY years now.

i am suddenly starving.

Two words - pecan pie.
If that doesn't do it - Krispy Creme Donuts.
Need I say more?

Ice cream. Nachos. Then more ice cream. Then Nachos. Back in forth until you feel sick and then you are so depressed over the fact that you just ate your own weight in ice cream and nachos that you forget about the other stuff. ;)

I hope you feel better soon, Mimi.
I hate when I feel like that.
Hang in there!

Watch my blog for a little something that might make you feel better.
